Description

Box Tops Product TOPS

1-2 hours per month
Sept. – May

 

Encourage participation in the “Box Tops” for Education Program fundraiser for the school. Submitting notices and reminders to the MBE newsletter.  Help gather, sort and send in all box tops and caps for processing. The homeroom class that turns in the most combined tops/caps per quarter will receive a class celebration.

Family Fun Events

4-5 hours per event, 3-4 events per year Sept.-May

Katie Dowe

Work with PTA to plan family fun events throughout the year for Manatee Bay students and their families.  It’s a great way to bring our “school family” together.

Field Week

3-6 hours each day depending on availability Nov. or Dec.

Shelly Shilling & Heather Peters

Help plan a fun-filled day of outdoor sports activities for each grade.  You’ll work with the “Coaches” to oversee games, judge winners (when needed), and distribute beverages. This event is divided into 6 sessions over 2 weeks. This is perfect for Dads, brothers or uncles to volunteer and support their child’s class.

Fifth Grade Events

3-4 hours each event

Help plan fifth grade events and an exciting graduation celebration for all fifth grade students.

Fundraising

2-3 hours per fundraiser
Sept. – May

Loran Schubarg

Assist chairperson with PTA fundraisers.  Fundraisers include a fall catalog fundraiser, spring fundraiser and SCRIP program. This is another great opportunity for everyone including Dads, brothers or uncles to volunteer and support our school.

Health & Safety

5 hours per screening

Sept. - Dec.

Assist coordinator in providing hearing and vision screenings to the students.  Training will be provided.  Assist coordinator with other checks and screenings during the year as it relates to the children and their health.

Historian

5 hours per month
Sept. – May

Gina Reichenbach

This can be done in the evening at home. Assist in creating, designing, documenting and collecting facts, figures, pictures, etc. to create a “scrapbook” of the current school year. Coordinate with the other contributors to maintain current as the school year goes on.  Forms will be turned in by each committee chair documenting different events throughout

Library/Media

Sept. – May

Ann Amon

Assist children with materials, book selection and checkout.  Monthly or weekly schedules appreciated.

Lunch Buddies/Ice Cream

1-2 hours weekdays based on your availability
Sept. - May during lunch

Gabriele Gannaway

You are the friendly face and extra pair of eyes we need to ensure a safe and enjoyable lunch period for all students.  Help monitor the lunchroom, respond to raised hands, assist with food packages, etc.  Every Wednesday is special ice cream day in the cafeteria, assist children with selection and checkout

Math Superstars


1-2 hours per week
(grading is done at home)

Sunshine Math Superstars is a K-5th grade enrichment program. The goal of Math Superstars is to provide an extra opportunity for students who want to be challenged and want to be rewarded for their extra effort.  Math Superstars worksheets are graded by parent volunteers.

Rebecca Freed

Gather student written stories from assigned class.  Volunteers type and bind stories for one class.  Every student will write and illustrate a story once throughout the school year.

Meet the Masters
1 hour per month
Sept. – May

Sonia Ritkes

Present prints and bibliographies of famous paintings and painters.  This program is a national art enrichment program with all information provided for the presenters.

Room Parent Coordinator

As needed throughout the school year Sept. – May

Ana Pol

1-2 people to serve as a liaison between the Room Parents, PTA Staff and teachers. During the first month of school, teachers will assign one or two room parents for their class.
(This is not a Room Parent position)

School Pictures

3-4 hours         
Oct., Dec. and April

 

Assist in collecting forms from students for school pictures and organizing these for the photography company.  On picture days, assist in the media center helping the students look their best for their pictures and make sure all of their paperwork is completed.

Student Directory

Sept. – Nov.

Ingrid Correa

Administration provides the names.  You provide data entry from your home in order to produce a student phone directory.

Student Incentives

Sorting and distributing incentive awards earned by students.

Sunshine Committee

 

1-2 hours per month at home

Write thank you notes to businesses/families that donate items throughout the year.

Teacher Appreciation

4-5 hours for event, 4-6 hours for planning Jan. –May

Committee works with parent donations to give Manatee Bay teachers and staff a luncheon and gift for the tireless, terrific work they do.

Yearbook

4-5 hours per week
(more if you are available)
Sept. – May

Denise Marsh

This committee serves as editors of the school yearbook. Members plan, design and produce the yearbook and oversee the selling and ordering process. They are responsible for collecting photos from teachers, parents and Room Parents.  Yearbooks are distributed in May.
